PAUL ANGIOLILLO

Artist's Statement
I
try to create works that are contemporary
and original,
yet also have a sense of tradition and universality.
I often like to explore opposites: representational/abstract,
primitive/refined,
rough/smooth, tension/relaxation, whimsical/serious.
Some of the qualities I strive for: beauty,
sensuality, humor,
transformation, and social awareness (but not all at once)..

For her support in many ways, over many years, I thank my mother,
Birgitta,
born in Sweden, who crafted and sewed until she was 92 years old,
and whose maiden name, "Brunskog,"
means "brown wood."
